Just a few simple steps

FIND A PERFECT SCHOOL PARTNER:

Once we have determined roughly how many of your volunteers will be participating, we will pair you with a nearby school that aligns with your scheduling needs and coaching capacity.

Work out program logistics:

We will work with you to determine where, when and how often the coaching sessions will take place. Students are typically bussed to volunteer sites once a week for a one-on-one coaching session; however, we will cater the model to our school and corporate partners' respective needs. Once these logistics have been settled, we work with both partners to establish a coaching calendar for the year.

RECRUIT VOLUNTEERS:

After you’ve selected the day of the week and time that work for your group, recruitment may begin.  If you would like to provide prospective coaches with information about the program before they make the commitment to coach, we’re happy to host an information session that includes an overview of Achieve Now; the research behind our program; our mission and vision; a brief coaching prospectus; information on the potential partner school; and a Q&A period.

There are three levels of coaching commitment: Regular coaches commit to coaching every week; while a substantial commitment, they form strong bonds with the students they work with regularly. Co-coaches team up to share one student, dividing the coaching weeks between them in a predetermined fashion. Your volunteers can also serve as substitute coaches, who cover for regular or co-coaches who are unable to attend a given coaching session.

VOLUNTEER COACH TRAINING:

All coaches must be trained to deliver our program with confidence and fidelity. To ensure that this is the case, we will conduct in-depth training sessions for your volunteers during which we introduce them to all of the program's various components; offer detailed coaching tips; and show them how to monitor student progress. Halfway through the school year, we will hold an interim training session to give your coaches further tips and tools.

START MAKING AN IMPACT!

Once the above steps are completed, the coaching sessions will begin! At every session, our reading specialists will be present, managing all logistics and partnering with your coaches to give each student precisely targeted coaching that caters to her or his learning style so that both coach and student flourish. The final session will be a celebration of what has been learned over the course of the partnership.

Testimonials

"Achieve Now perfectly aligns with our company' philanthropic goals and, by students coming into the office, it makes it easier for our personnel to participate."

—Michelle Conn, Director of Administration, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius

"Coaching is one of my favorite parts of the week. I find that the program is well designed to teach in an energizing way. The one-on-one coaching shows the student that she is valuable and important. Its neat to see the trust and relationship growing as the weeks progress."

—Volunteer Coach

"Achieve Now does an excellent job supporting the coaches. Any time I have a question, an Achieve now staff member gives me the time needed to work through an issue or answer a question."

—Volunteer Coach

"Our coaches feel that their time is well spent and that they are making a difference. This is in large part due to Achieve Now's new check-in system, supervisory system and training process!"
