Achieve Now is a Philadelphia-based literacy nonprofit. We see literacy as a social justice issue and are dedicated to providing Philadelphia schoolchildren with high-quality, culturally competent literacy instruction.
The challenge we face
In 2024, 65.4% of School District of Philadelphia third graders scored below proficient in reading. Three quarters of struggling readers will have difficulty in later grades and are five times more likely to drop out of high school. We are working to change that.
Transforming lives through literacy
Our students grow to be strong, confident readers through our holistic approach where Achieve Now literacy instructors or trained adult volunteer coaches use our research-based phonics curriculum to meet students‘ needs in an affirming and empowering environment.
