It’s easy and rewarding to volunteer with Achieve Now. There are many volunteer options to pursue; we’ll help you to find the optimal way to participate, depending on your interests, skills, and availability.

Partnering with volunteers and volunteer organizations is central to the fulfillment of our mission. Each year, as many as 650 volunteers donate more than 16,000 hours to help young readers gain essential literacy skills. By giving so freely of their time, energy, and passion, Achieve Now volunteers have positively impacted the lives of thousands of Philadelphia schoolchildren.

What we provide

At each step of the way, we will ensure that you have a satisfying and meaningful experience, whether you work with a child every week for an hour, enrich our social media presence, or help ensure the busses run on time.

When you volunteer with Achieve Now, you’ll receive:

clear guidance
a detailed volunteer handbook
a signed volunteer agreement
robust, accessible online resources

Interested in being a volunteer coach?

Will your schedule permit you to participate in a 60-minute tutoring session at the same day and time each week from mid-October to late May?

Can you obtain and submit all required clearances (PA state criminal and child abuse; FBI fingerprinting; mandated reporter training).

Can you attend a 90-minute training session prior to the first coaching session?

Do you have access to a computer equipped with Internet access, a camera and microphone, and updated versions of Zoom and PowerPoint?
