Chatara Benson 

Director of Development
KIPP Philadelphia Public Schools

As the Director of Development at KIPP Philadelphia Public Schools, Chatara is responsible for grants management, annual giving, and serving as the point of contact for corporate and foundation partners. Before joining KIPP, Chatara served as Director of Operations for Parents for Great Camden Schools, a start-up parent advocacy non-profit in Camden, NJ. Prior to that, Chatara worked as part of the school investment team at Philadelphia School Partnership.  

Chatara’s commitment to “all children” and her firm belief in Achieve Now’s mission and dedication to equity in education led her to join the board in 2019. She brings experience in nonprofits and school systems to our work, as well as asset management expertise and a history of board service with charter schools, grant-making institutions, and social justice organizations.
